Habitat Ready to Break Ground on Mike's House Sept. 13
9/6/08

from The Salisbury Post

A groundbreaking celebration for a new Habitat for Humanity house will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, at 9 a.m.

The home will be located at 830 Carpenter Circle.

The house is sponsored by First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury and is being built in memory of deacon and community leader Mike McDuffie, who died in January after a bout with cancer. He was 49.

Jack and Melinda Wilson and their three children are the lucky Habitat family who will move into this new home and already have significant hours invested in the sweat equity.

Wilson works for the city of Salisbury, and the family is active with the local Salvation Army Church.

Those interested in volunteering or making a contribution may contact First Presbyterian Church at (704) 636-1321. Volunteer applications are also available at www.salisburyfirstpres. org.

Project leader is Mark Rufty. Dick Crane and Teresa Kidd are volunteer coordinators.
